Olivia Kijauskas is a Cleveland-based artist and iconographer. After studying acrylic painting, sculpture, and drawing at Cleveland State University and working as an artist for a year, she immersed herself in Byzantine Catholic monastic life for three years where she learned the ancient art of Byzantine iconography. Olivia uses traditional methods and as natural as possible materials to write her icons. She strives to imbue her work with her sensitivity to beauty and the spiritual life, treating Byzantine iconography as a lifestyle and vocation to aid her on the path of theosis. Inspired by the apparent foolishness of the cross of Christ and the lives of the Saints, Olivia lives a simple life, dependent on this work for her livelihood, and she welcomes commissions.
